Bridgenorth and Clee Hill

What a fantastic ride on Saturday 28th September. After a week of torrential rain we were so lucky with the weather, which started off a bit chilly, but finished gloriously. 11 riders met for breakfast at the Grove in Fosse Park and Bill then led us across country, skirting around Leamington Spa onto the A46 and our first stop at the Piston Club just past Stratford. After coffee, we headed along some lovely roads, finishing just before lunch on a teeny, tiny gravel strewn road leading to the fabulous Hampstall Inn, in Stourport on Severn. Fortunately the water had subsided and we were able to park by the river just by the pub.

After a very good lunch, we set off again through beautiful countryside, with some fabulous twisty roads. No idea where we went at this point but we visited Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire along the way. Eventually we arrived at Clee Hill and what an amazing view on a lovely clear day. We stood in awe for a short time, before mounting up again for the trip home.

The pace on the way back was progressive, even exuberant at times as we headed back across country, joining the A46 again and then heading home our separate ways. I arrived back with only 0.6 miles left in my tank, having filled up first thing, so Iā€™m guessing we did around 250 miles. All great fun and looking forward to the next one!
